In Floriography, the language of flowers, Dahlias mean inner strength, integrity, grace and creativity. These were all qualities of many key female figures in my life. I was fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful gardens in my childhood, and it was the strong women around me who maintained all of them. My no-nonsense mother and grandmothers who knew exactly how to work the land and tended to the gardens that provided nourishment for their families while also creating beautiful blooms that nourished the soul. The ones who become my mentors on how to persevere towards my dreams and ambitions. The ones who taught me how to prevent idle hands and an idle mind and see that there is so much that is possible when one puts their focus in check.
Dahlias is for them. A reminder of those who were themselves colourful, resilient and the ones standing out from the crowd and staying kind under pressure.
