Desert, Sea, Moon is a textile exhibition honouring cloth and slow-stitch: simplicity and patience β both of which rebel against the use of unsustainable fibres and the fast pace at which our society appears to function. Each piece offers simplicity through composition. The shapes used are intended to conjure memories that we are of this earth β not separate from. They invoke forms found in the natural world β in landscapes, in the sky, in the water.
Each piece offers patience through the rhythm and repetition of slow stitch that fills each shape. Some pieces are embellished with shells, rocks and botanically dyed fabrics. Harnessing natures offerings furthers the exhibitions endeavor to reunite the viewer with their relationship to earth. Through the conjuring of something ancient, Desert, Sea, Moon offers a collection of simple yet intricate pieces that intend to call in feelings of both reverence and delight.

Rosalie Urosevic is an emerging textile artist currently living in Canberra, Australia. The artworks she creates are a meeting of her relationship with the earth and an honouring of something ancient. Cloth is ancient β one of humanβs first technologies. As with most technologies, cloth has been interfered with to the point that what was once a practical solution to the needs of civilisation has now become a hazardous waste. Rosalie Urosevic endeavours to restore beauty in its natural form using natural fibers, botanical dyes, rocks, shells, crystals and shapes that offer the reminder that we are of this earth. The rhythm and repetition of slow stitch offers a strength that is only found in patience and a pace that defies the instant gratification of this modern life.
