Black and White Edges is a monochrome series of bold, abstract works which utilise contrast and light as a metaphor for psychological change. The series explores mental health from the experience of the artist, and also draws inspiration from music and street art.
Black and White Edges studies two different techniques and mediums. The first being heavy bodied acrylics applied with a range of knives and scrapers, allowing for impulsive and emotive painting movement and providing delicate textural qualities to works. The second technique includes the use of stencils, meticulously created and hand cut, to allow aerosol painting, allowing for a balanced, reserved and meticulous contrast to the visceral and motive first acrylic application.
