See What I See! brings together artists, tutors and students from the NatureArt Lab community in a collective exploration of biodiversity, observation and connection to the natural world.
Working across drawing, painting, photography, mixed media and nature journalling, the exhibiting artists respond to the remarkable diversity of life that surrounds us. Through close observation and creative practice, the works reveal the intricate forms, patterns and relationships found within plants, animals, fungi and ecosystems, inviting audiences to look more carefully and consider their own relationship with the living world.
The exhibition spans local and international landscapes, featuring subjects encountered in everyday environments alongside observations drawn from NatureArt Lab tours and artist retreats to places including the Galápagos Islands, the Ecuadorian Amazon and Costa Rica. Together, these works reflect a shared commitment to curiosity, observation and environmental awareness.
At its core, See What I See! considers the act of looking. By slowing down and engaging deeply with the natural world, the artists cultivate a greater understanding of the complex ecological networks that sustain life. The exhibition proposes that observation can be a form of connection, and that creative practice can foster a sense of care and responsibility toward the environments we inhabit.
A collaborative component, Biodiversity Wall: 100 Species of Australia, extends this invitation to participate. Bringing together small artworks depicting native species from across the continent, the evolving installation celebrates Australia's extraordinary biological richness while acknowledging the importance of its protection.
Through diverse artistic perspectives, See What I See! highlights the capacity of art to deepen our engagement with nature, offering space for reflection, discovery and renewed appreciation of the biodiversity that shapes our world.
