Artist Statement – Debbie Hill Listen Up and Protest Ark#1 from the Ark Series, are a response to the devastation of our ecosystems. The ark is a representation of the ecological ‘islands’ that are home to some of our most critically endangered species. I utilise porcelain to demonstrate the fragility of the environment and graphite to draw attention to the species on the verge of disappearance. Listen Up display’s images of critically endangered fauna and flora from across Australia. Protest Ark #1 draws on text and images from climate change protests and combines them with endangered Australian species.
