Exhibiting at M16 Artspace

As a dynamic hub for contemporary art, we take pride in showcasing innovative exhibitions from emerging and established artists and craftspeople.

Applications are welcome from artists, collectives, collaborators, writers and curators working in all mediums and at all career levels, both locally and internationally. We also encourage proposals that include engaging public programs such as artist talks, reading groups, workshops and panel discussions.

Our program values innovative exhibitions which cultivate an inclusive community, stimulate discussion about contemporary themes, and amplify the voices of artists that might otherwise go unheard.

Supported in part by the ACT Government, our gallery offers three distinct exhibition spaces, providing a versatile and professional environment for your artistic endeavours. Cosmotechnic Telepathics in the Age of Surveillance Capitalism, 2023.

 

Basic terms and conditions are outlined below:

    • Use of the exhibition space for four weeks, including installation and demount time.

    • Gallery opening hours of 12 - 5pm Wednesday to Sunday during the exhibition period.

    • Curatorial advice.

    • Professional ERCO track lighting.

    • Gallery invigilators will be provided by M16 during office opening hours (Wed-Fri).

    • Exhibition opening event staffed by M16 staff and volunteers.

    • An opening night event with an open bar with beer, wine and chilled water.

    • Event promotion for public programs.

    • Gallery designed online and print listings.

    • E-newsletter promotion to M16 electronic mailing list, media contacts and arts-related email networks.

    • Online listing and promotion through M16's Facebook and Instagram.

    • Patching and painting of gallery walls after exhibition conclusion.

    • Access to tools and materials for exhibition installation.

    • Media players, projectors, monitors and plinths.*

    *NOTE: We have a limited number of these items and we encourage you to discuss your requirements with us before you apply.

    • M16 provides sales support for all exhibitions and takes 30% commission on all sales (inc. GST)

    • Gallery hire is for 4 weeks and includes installation and demount time.

    • Exhibiting artists will be required to sit the gallery for one weekend during their exhibition if in Gallery 2 or 3, and two weekends if exhibiting in Gallery 1. *

      *If artists are unable to sit the gallery alternatives can be arranged upon discussion!

    NOTES:

    • Prices above are for four-week hire, including install and deinstall time.

    • All prices are GST inclusive.

    • Commission free gallery hire rates are available on request.

 

How to apply

Proposals are invited from curators and artists working in Canberra, interstate and internationally. While all proposals are considered, the program is by selection. Please join our mailing list to stay up to date on proposal rounds.

To be considered for an exhibition at M16 Artspace we will need you to submit an exhibition proposal through the online form below.
