Friday 27 October โ€“ Sunday 19 November

Opening Thursday 26 October 6-8pm

Liz Perryโ€™s interest in art began with learning textile skills from her mother during childhood. After learning to weave she was attracted and excited by the artistic possibilities of weaving and subsequently undertook art and textile studies in the Netherlands, completing formal art education in Australia. Her current practice includes explorations with textiles and paper, and much of her work refers to human impacts on nature and the landscape.

The small books of Biblia were created in Athens following Lizโ€™s residency at the Skopelos Art Foundation, on the island of Skopelos, Greece in 2022. The works incorporate found and local materials and reference aspects of the environment such as built vs natural, historical vs contemporary, past vs present that are part of the Aegean and its history. Working post-residency in a small apartment in suburban Athens with minimal materials (paint, ink, paper both new and recycled, leaves) she was able to explore in greater depth the places and experiences that make up the pulse of these landscapes. The works are individual combinations of painting, printing, rubbings, collage, and stitch.
