This work was made after Lynne took part in a residency at Hill End through the Bathurst Regional Gallery. She was intrigued by the gold mining history of the village and inspired by the Holtermann Collection. 

 The Collection consists of photographs taken between 1872 and 1876 at Hill End, of people standing outside their living quarters and cottages or businesses. The photographs provide detailed, fascinating insights into the hard life of the time and place.

 Working with clay and using a simple house shape taken from a Russell Drysdale painting, of Hill End, as a starting point the house shapes were cast and mono-printed with the photocopied photographic images. The pinpricked houses reference woman’s work in the town and the blank houses represent the vacant blocks where houses once stood.
