M16’s Writer in Residence Program 2017 is a supported residency for emerging writers with an interest in the arts. It offers an emerging writer the opportunity to develop their writing practice, publish their work, contribute to the critical discussion of Australian contemporary art particularly in Canberra and work closely with a small arts team. This year’s Residency will take place from September - October 2017 at M16 Artspace.
M16 Artspace will contribute to the development of contemporary art in Canberra by providing the successful recipient with professional development, mentorship and networking opportunities.
The Writer in Residence will work closely with the M16 team, writing blog posts, media releases and reviews of exhibitions. In addition, they will also be expected to work off-site, researching and writing about Canberra’s art scene.
M16 Artspace is pleased to announce that Helen Musa will be the 2017 Mentor. Musa has been Arts Editor of City News since 2009. She has also held posts at Capital Magazine, The Canberra Times and Muse Magazine. Her extensive experience working in the arts as a writer ensures excellent guidance to the successful applicant.
